In its second year, The Safe Haven for Families At Risk program will serve between 25 to 35 families (mothers with school age children) who are forced onto the streets when homeless shelters close for the day.
We believe that recognition of The Safe Haven for Families At Risk program lead to continuing funding in the future and that amount of money donated will continue to match the amount needed to care for Albany's homeless women and children. We hope to integrate the program into a standing services of the Lexington Street YMCA.
We have submitted a funding proposal for $10,000 to the Albany Department of Social Services which has been approved for our second year of operation (Please go to Addenda: Letter of Support).
Once we have established a track record, we anticipate being able to raise funds from a broad cross section of the community, as well as from additional regional and national sources.
